who we are

We are barefoot architects.
We have a shared set of values and work with like-minded clients who care about people and the planet.

about us

We do wear shoes to work, but we want to tread lightly on the Earth – and this is key to our ethos.

Chalk Wall House, our first major building project, remains a great example of how we use creative, strategic design solutions to develop beautiful, customised architecture on difficult sites. Sometimes, getting planning consent is far from straightforward. This was one of those.

We specialise in community projects, housing of all sizes, exciting extensions, eco homes and larger scale housing schemes, and we work across the South West of England from our offices in Bristol and Totnes in Devon.

We welcome visitors. Please book in a time slot so that we can make sure we’re in!

In our search for continuous learning and improvement we support the Green Register, who provide us with environmentally focussed continuous professional development, as well as Timber Development UK whose research allows us to develop expertise in timber Frame construction methodologies.

As a practice that specialise in Cohousing projects we support the UK Cohousing Network, and Community Land Trust Network - both of whom support many of our amazing clients.

We are a Living Wage Employer (we don’t forget the cleaners).
